WHAT IS ABCRYL?     

 

Abcryl is the Ampa Plastics brand name for acrylic-capped ABS. It is manufactured by co-extruding ABS with a layer of PMMA (acrylic) to create a material that combines the impact strength of ABS with the glossy finish and scratch-resistant exterior of PMMA.


KEY FEATURES OF ABCRYL    

 

  • Excellent impact strength and rigidity
  • Strong at low temperatures
  • UV resistant (if tinted acrylic is used and/or the ABS is UV stabilised)
  • Highly weatherable
  • Easy to thermoform and machine
  • Easy to paint and glue
  • Has a durable, high-gloss finish
  • Can be used in outdoor applications

APPLICATIONS OF ABCRYL      

 

  • Sanitaryware (extensively used for bathtubs, basins, showers and steam rooms)
  • Appliances (eg lamp casings and trays)
  • Automotive parts and transport (eg door and roof interior panels, window frames, motorcycle shells, luggage shells)
